As members of the 5/6 Homestead, students are involved in the running and management of the Homestead and the learning community within, as well as adopting roles of leadership within the wider school community. This is done through the mechanism of the 5/6 Homestead Student Parliament.
This system has been established to allow students to develop their understandings of how a real parliament works, as well as being able to contribute to the management of the 5/6 Homestead and the wider Minimbah community.
In the early 2000’s our students began showing sheep, reared on the Woodleigh Ag-hort farm in show competitions. We are now regular competitors (and award winners) on the Victorian Agricultural Show circuit.
Woodleigh School has a proud Girls Football tradition. We were one of the first schools in Victoria to play Girls Australian Rules football in the late 1980’s. We have won numerous State and SIS pennants in the competitions which have existed in that time.
2011 saw the introduction of a Junior Girls teams competition of which we were the inaugural Premiers.
Woodleigh School competes at both Primary and Secondary level in SIS and Chess Kids tournaments. We have had great success in the past 12 months, with both our Junior Campus and Senior Campus teams advancing from local to state level competition.
Woodleigh School has been competing in HPV (Human Powered Vehicle) races since the mid 1990’s. In that time we have had many class and race wins in events such as the RACV Energy Challenge 24 race, the Casey 12 Hour Race and the Australian International Pedal Prix 24 Hour in Murray Bridge.
Students from both Primary and Secondary level are building and racing their own human powered vehicles, and we have recently debuted a staff and parent team too!
