As a school, our mission is clear – the purposeful development of creative, compassionate, skilful, and resilient young people who can thrive in an ever-changing world. But how, you ask?

Learning to Thrive is Woodleigh’s 2030 Strategic Direction, developed through consultation with the school community and informed by research and cutting-edge practice.

This vision builds on our long history of innovation in holistic education. It clarifies our values, what we are committed to and how we will shape the future of our school.

Stage One of Learning to Thrive’s strategic direction runs between 2022 and 2024. Our intentional approach to developing a thriving learning community is reflected in our focus on academics, wellbeing, innovation, community, and sustainability.

We are committed to this approach and to ensuring young people thrive during their time at Woodleigh and when they step into their lives beyond school. Stage Two of Learning to Thrive will commence in 2025 and focus heavily on effectiveness, improvement, and innovation.

A significant milestone was achieved in 2022 when Woodleigh became an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP). In 2024, Woodleigh was delighted to successfully achieve accreditation with the Middle Years Programme (MYP). These accomplishments solidify a seamless structure for learning across the entire Woodleigh student lifecycle. From Early Childhood to Year 12, Woodleigh offers one aligned curriculum.

The Regenerative Futures Program (RFP) is another integral aspect of our vision for progressive education. It has been specifically designed to expand our students' knowledge, learning agility, skills, and perspectives and prepare them for their Senior Years at Woodleigh and their lives beyond school.

It promotes intellectual rigour and student agency, motivating students to make meaningful connections between their academic studies and the real world, through a regenerative lens.

Woodleigh continues to question the status quo; it challenges conventional thinking, makes courageous choices about how best to engage young minds and pioneers the concept of holistic education.

At Woodleigh, we cultivate the learning of young people who can apply their accumulated knowledge to solve real-world challenges and make a difference in the lives of others. In a world where change is a constant, a Woodleigh education is more relevant than ever.
