Bill Buckley smaller

Artist and Alumni, Bill Buckley

Inspired by architecture, sculpture, art, sci-fi, the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi and embracing simplicity and imperfections, Bill’s works utilise some of the most common of materials such as steel, brass and acrylic in which scale is limited only by imagination, blurring lines between practical items and sculpture, jewellery and fine art.

Bill’s practice began around 2005, focusing on jewellery and accessories for all genders. The scale of projects grew and his business, Lapel Industries, changed from a small jewellery studio to a full-scale fabrication workshop catering to custom builds, shop fits outs, arts fabrication, and furniture.

His recent work has seen Bill return to his roots after years of refinement, an almost obsessive need to make, and a deep appreciation of industrial forms and aesthetics.

Bill has donated Vase for Dead Things III (pictured) for the growing permanent Woodleigh Art Collection.
