Around the Grounds

Year 12 Formal
Held at The Epicurean Red Hill last Friday night, they all had an absolute ball, as you can see.

Battle of Hastings
It was the year 1066 last Monday at Woodleigh. Our Year 8s fought the Battle of Hastings (not the local one, the East Sussex one).

Life Saving
Salty air, sand, snacks, rocks, races and monster crabs. Penbank's Year 6s spent the day at the beach for life-saving sessions and adventures.
After all the intense racing, we tucked into our lunches and then finally got to go crab hunting. We found 10 crabs and I helped build a crab enclosure for all our new little crawly friends. We had such a fabulous time!

Minimbah Working Bee
Actually. These little bees have worked so hard to prepare for the Minimbah Fair tonight. We will share photos of all the fun next week.

It's tonight!
Inside the Classroom
Penbank's Year 3 and 4 students have created and named a country to develop in harmony with the natural environment. They're also studying the role of maps in understanding the world, collaborating, communicating, and evaluating the effectiveness of different strategies and techniques, among other things!

Inside the Classroom
Minimbah has really packed things in this week. Brace yourselves.
Firstly, Prep to Year 2 venture out each week on Discovery Day. It may look like one big party (it is), but it's also a crucial learning exercise. They returned to their classrooms to contemplate their morning and the things that nature can show us about ourselves and the world around us.

Discovery Day
But wait, there's more:
Minimbah Press Gang. Read all about it. Editor in Chief, Claire.
This is exciting because Claire and her team are putting together a newspaper.

The Gang
Years 7 - 9 Assembly
Those Gen Zers, give them a microphone and look out.

Year 12 Literature
Bronwen Coleman is the artistic director of the Anthropocene Play Company. She visited our Year 12s to discuss the play Uncle Vanya, the next text study for Year 12 Literature. Bronwen directed the play, has expertise in this area and offered to support our students.

At the Farm
Unit 3 Agricultural/Horticultural students are experimenting with organic herbicides to manage kikuyu grass in the vineyard.
Year 10s will be installing bee hotels for the Blue-Banded Bees in the native bee bush garden they're planting.
And keep an eye out for our chrysanthemums, they are budding nicely and will be available for sale around Mother's Day.

Until we go Around the Grounds next week...
